Siebert's New Web site and customer portal goes live

This week sees the launch of Scottish telecommunications experts Siebert Telecom Solutions’ new web-site and customer portal.

The new site developed with Glasgow based web site designers, Radiator, is much more than a shop window for Siebert’s products and services.

Stephen Berry, E-Marketing Manager of Radiator has been involved with the new site from the initial consultation period:
'Siebert were very clear from the start about the appearance and functionality of the site.'
'They are very conscious of the fact that their customers aren’t usually IT people or telecoms professionals so we had to develop a look which was clean, easy to read and navigate around but gave them the medium they needed to explain quite complicated technical topics in clear, simple terms.'

Graeme Hind is Operations and Marketing manager at Siebert. As the web-site covers both of his areas of responsibility it is very much his baby. 'We wanted functionality to be as much a prime consideration as appearance. The Radiator team just understood that from the start.'
'There are capacities and functions built into the site which we aren’t even ready to launch just yet but it was important that we took these into account. We didn’t want to have to compromise anything or re-invent the wheel every time we roll out a new feature for our customers.'
The features the site will offer all have completely practical benefits to Siebert's customers. As well as a wealth of practical ideas and tested techniques for improving and managing their telephone systems and networks, Siebert’s customers will be able to upload their system programming back-ups to a safe but accessible environment.
Graeme Hind explains: 'A few years ago, when our customers wanted changes made to their telecoms systems, an engineer had to visit them and do it for them. All that has changed.'
'Nowadays, a large proportion of our customers are programming their own systems. They are able to make changes instantly to respond to changing conditions within their businesses. Even those who don’t choose to make these changes themselves now get us to access their system programming remotely and make changes for them.'
'This creates a new challenge for us and for them. It is simply good practice to back up all programming changes in the event of accidents or unforeseen problems like fires or floods.
'Now, customers can simply upload those back-ups to a secure, password controlled facility through the web-portal. The back ups can be retrieved immediately and full service can be restored in minutes in most cases.'

This is just one of the many innovative elements of the design brief which Radiator have developed and which Siebert will roll out throughout 2009.
